About The Event
Missing Children
The first two hours in a missing child case are critical. In true abductions, most children are killed within the first few hours. Emergency Communication Professionals (ECPs) must gather comprehensive information to assist responders and support rapid search efforts.
Students will learn to:
- Explain the roles of NCMEC, NCIC, and national standards in responding to missing children cases.
- Identify types of missing child incidents, key statistics, and findings from the Child Abduction Homicide Study.
- Apply procedures for processing missing child calls, including intake elements, NCIC entry, and responder notifications.
- Understand alerting processes (such as DPS Alerts) and review real-world recovery cases.
