Public Safety work environments and 9-1-1 Communications centers are fraught with tension, stress, and conflict; sometimes necessarily so. Distress, disagreements, and differences threaten morale and slow down organization success. The key to thriving in this environment starts with understanding the reasons behind conflict and stress, knowing where responsibilities lie, and learning how to manage this with respect and expert care.
The goal of this course is to provide training and soft skills practice that managers, team leads, and supervisors can use to resolve conflict, manage boundaries, and implement appropriate character-based communications in day to day work activity. Students will leave with an understanding of typical personal & professional causes to conflict, managing resolution, de- escalation techniques, examples of appropriate response, and skills to notice and deal with common differences.
Registration: Slots are available for the first 20 Region 4 Telecommunicators on a first-come, first-serve basis, with priority seating for participating El Paso County 911 District agencies.
