About The Event
This course is designed for public safety dispatchers and call-takers. The goals of this course are to provide the student with background information, concepts, techniques, and an understanding of the emotional impact of dealing with suicides and suicidal callers.
Under the instruction provided by a qualified instructor(s) each student will:
- Identify common causes of suicide
- Demonstrate an understanding of techniques when speaking with a suicidal caller
- Analyze the impact of trauma and the relationship with suicide in the law enforcement community.
Registration: Slots are available for the first 20 Region 4 Telecommunicators on a first-come, first-serve basis, with priority registrations for participating El Paso County 911 District agencies. Register using the "Register Now" button on this page; further instructions will be sent on how to access the course online at a later date.
Registration deadline is Thursday, March 4th by 12:00 pm.
